+44 Stories

Tuesday 21 January

19:30 – 21:30
2Northdown2 Northdown Street
London N1 9BG
Laugh and sigh with a crew of Londoners telling funny and serious, true, personal stories, with MC Victoria Dry and a great lineup of storytellers:

Adele Meyer is a half-Belgian, half-American Jew living in London. She leads harm reduction and mediation teams at events and festivals all over the world, and works to welcome asylum-seekers here in Britain. She loves costumes, dancing, and creative resistance.

Alfred Dry was not allowed to bring Miss Take (the tempting teacher) to the stage at his school talent show so she's coming out of the staff room for the first time at +44 -- don't be late or she'll give you a red mark.

Becca Fogg is a recovering corporate marketer, currently digging deep in healthcare transformation and writing. Her first book, BEAUTIFUL TRAUMA--about her experience of a devastating injury and the science behind it--will be published by Granta and Penguin Random House in 2022.

Ilyas Kirmani is a full time journalist who wishes he was a full time traveler... but TV pays for the TV (in the words of Wanda Sykes).

Mark Johnson, born and raised in Eastern Kentucky in the hills and hollers of Appalachia, is a stand up comedian living in London via Lexington and New York City.

Michael Noel is currently living between the US and Europe, extending his mid-life gap year, doing stand-up comedy and storytelling on stages like the Moth, where he was a 2019 StorySlam champion.

Miranda Parry is a full-time photographer and part-time buffoon from London.

Thomas Uhm is a walking archetype -- the actor who became a trader when his mid-life crisis hit, living his American dream in London.

MC: Victoria Dry is a former music awards organizer with a diploma in acting and currently cofounder and partner in Drydesign, a graphic design business, and SweetArt, contemporary art of iconic sweets made solely from discarded sweet wrappers.
