DOUBLE EDINBURGH COMEDY AWARD NOMINEE

Larry Dean is an award-winning comedian and writer, after being crowned Scottish Comedian Of The Year when he was 23, his star has continued to rise: from a nomination for the Foster’s Comedy Award for Best Newcomer to being one of the standout performers on the Allstars Supershow Opening Night Gala at the Melbourne International Festival. Since then he's toured internationally, made his debut appearance on BBC1’s Live at the Apollo and new Comedy Central UK show Roast Battle and worked alongside some of the biggest names in comedy, having been invited join the line up on Laugh Out Loud with Kevin Hart at the prestigious Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, as well as supporting Eddie Izzard on tour.
His chirpy, raconteur style have led many to suggest this exciting Glaswegian is the heir to Billy Connolly's Scottish comedy crown!
“Unexpected and excellent.” The Sunday Times
“Has the easy charm of an arena comic and the high joke rate too.” The Guardian
“One of the brightest rising stars.” Metro
“Fascinatingly funny.” Evening Standard

LAUREN PATTISON

EDINBURGH COMEDY AWARD NOMINEE: BEST NEWCOMER
One of the brightest young talents on the comedy circuit, this baby-faced comic has proved herself a force to be reckoned with.
Lauren made her mark on the comedy scene in 2017 like a crash-landing Geordie meteorite with her smash-hit, sell-out, critically acclaimed debut show Lady Muck, which was lauded as one of the strongest debut the festival has seen in years. It received a Herald Angel Award and was nominated for Amused Moose Best Show and an Edinburgh Best Newcomer Comedy Award. The success of the show has seen it go on to a six night sell out run at London's famous Soho Theatre, as well as runs at the Perth and Adelaide Fringe in Australia, and the Auckland Comedy Festival in New Zealand.
Since then her mixture of bawdy confessions, daft stories and enormous charm have made her a favourite on the club and festival circuit alike, as well as being tour support for Katherine Ryan, Dane Baptiste and Kerry Godliman.
“You. Are. So. Funny.” Katherine Ryan
“Even when packing a punch, her demeanour is breezy, frank and friendly, making her wickedly engaging company ... a fully equipped comedian.” Chortle
“Razor wit and brutal honesty ... outstanding.” The List
“Deliciously bawdy.” The Telegraph

JANINE HAROUNI

EDINBURGH COMEDY AWARD NOMINEE: BEST NEWCOMER

Janine is quickly making a name for herself as one of the fastest rising newcomers on the UK circuit. Star of Comedy Central’s sketch series 'Modern Horror Stories', she’s also been featured on BBC Three, BBC Four, Comic Relief, and BBC Radio Four as well as winning the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year competition and being nominated at Best Newcomer at the Fringe this year, with her debut show ‘Stand Up with Janine Harouni (Please Remain Seated)’. She sold out its entire run in just 10 days and received 5 and 4 star reviews across the board. She’s just returned from a Stateside run of the show and is one of the easiest hot tips out there for mega-stardom.
“Mixes laugh-out-loud lines, smart structure and tender personal revelation.” The Times
“Layered, purposeful and funny.” Chortle

VICTOR PATRASCAN

Romanian comedian based in London. I have recently won the 'King Gong' at the Comedy Store London and Manchester, 'The Blackout' at Up the Creek in London and 'Beat the Frog' at Frog and Bucket in Manchester. I am also the co-founder of the Eastern European Comedy Festival and Roast Battle UK.

A sense of dark mischief with a winning attitude.” Chortle

AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:

BEN VAN DER VELDE

Freshly returned from the Edinburgh Festival, Ben is ready to take the helm at Good Ship once more and steer it through the vast ocean of comedy we have on offer. One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.

"Sharp and crafty gagsmith, a life-giving compere." Chortle

"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.” Huffington Post
