Laughing Around Presents... #8
Wednesday 4 December
with Ali Brice, George Fouracres, Eshaan Akbar, Ross Smith & Andrea Hubert
“Are you going to be a comedian?” asked Joe, aged 8.
“Yes.” Ali replied, also aged 8.
14 years later Ali made his stand-up debut and hasn’t looked BACK since! From puns to props to character, Ali has been honing his craft for the last seven years and has demonstrable talent for weird, unhinged characters and lightning fast, slightly unhinged audience interaction! Ali has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival each year since 2010 and in 2019 performed his sixth solo show Bin Wondering which again drew fantastic reviews ('an exquisite silliness, delivered by a master craftsman." one4review), but also saw him maturing as a comedian - still retaining his trademark audience interaction and madcap shenanigans, but this time combining it with honest storytelling. + Now a regular fixture on London’s Alternative Comedy Scene.
George is a regular performer on BBC Radio 4 and 4extra, (The Now Show, Newsjack, Lenny Henry’s Rogues Gallery, Ross Noble’s Britain in Bits). On TV he has played Charlie in Raised By Wolves (Channel 4), Henry Bloyd Smith in Pls Like (BBC Three), and made his US TV debut in 2019 as the villainous Hugh Cabot in Whiskey Cavalier.
He was a member of the Cambridge Footlights, and post-university became the third member of sketch group Daphne, with Jason Forbes and Phil Wang. Daphne were nominated for the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer in 2015.
He has also featured in Drunk History (Comedy Central), Harry Hill’s Tea Time (Sky), @elevenish (ITV2) and The Scandalous Lady W (BBC1). In 2018 he toured with Filter Theatre’s infamously exciting and raucous version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Peter Quince.
In 2019, he performed his debut stand-up hour, Gentlemon, at the Edinburgh Fringe.
He is a regular face (and voice) at some of the capitals biggest comedy clubs including Top Secret Comedy, Backyard Comedy, and Angel Comedy.
A resident host of Comedy Virgins at the Cavendish Armsand also angel comedy at the world famous Bill Murray pub. Joel Dommett described him as 'one of my favourite new acts'. And Nish Kumar called his comedy 'hilarious and original'. (Lovely quotes from some up-and-coming lads).
This year he made headlines around the world when he agreed to go on holiday with complete strangers, taking the place of another man called Ross Smith. His viral adventure and the aftermath is the subject of his debut Edinburgh show, I Am Ross Smith.
