✮ Jesse Rose (Play it down/Made for the night)

“One of the best DJs in the world right now”

“After years earning his dance music stripes, Jesse Rose has hit the big time”

IDJ Magazine

A true pioneer, Jesse Rose is responsible for twisting the template of house music as we know it. Be it through his genre bending productions, DJ performances across the planet, remixing some of the biggest acts around (Major Lazer, Hotchip, Metronomy, Underworld, Simian Mobile Disco et al.), as a label boss A&Ring the freshest talent in electronic music or curating his Made for the Night residencies around the globe, Jesse has one of the most revered profiles in the scene.
Born at the tail end of the 1970s in London’s Ladbroke Grove, as a boy Jesse was raised on a healthy dose of Motown soul, jazz and eighties funk. From humble beginnings, and with solid determination, Jesse began making music at the tender age of 14. Moving to Bristol in the early 90’s, he was soon DJing and running club nights together with his close friend Jamie Anderson, and quickly earned a reputation as an up and coming talent.
By 1997, Jesse moved back to London, subsequently meeting the man that would truly change him from DJ to producer: Dave ‘Switch’ Taylor. Their first collaborations caught the eye of key Chicago house producer Derrick Carter, leading to a string of releases on his ‘Classic’ label. Jesse’s work on Switch’s ‘Dubsided’ saw the development of the house genre by mixing & dropping sounds from other genres instead of mere looping, resulting in some of his biggest hits such as ‘A-Sided’ & ‘You’re All Over My Head’. Jesse learnt his craft as a DJ cutting his teeth with regular slots at London super club Fabric.
The year 2000 marked the inception of Jesse’s first label, ‘Front Room Recordings’, then came his second label ‘Made to Play’, conceived in 2005, the label has turned into a powerhouse for unearthing and nurturing new talent, churning out hit records like Riva Starrs’ ‘I was drunk’ and making stars out of its artists. Jesse fashioned a distinct Balkan-style sub-genre of house adopted as the defining sound of Made to Play, influencing the likes of Yolanda be Cool. Jesse brought this trademark off-kilter house sound to Berlin and beyond with global residencies at Panorama Bar (Berlin) The Social Club (Paris), Hive (Zurich), Fabric (London), Avalon (Los Angeles) and Womb (Tokyo), as well as to thousands of revelers at leading festivals around the world such as Creamfields, Parklife, Exit and Melt. In 2009 Jesse released his debut solo album entitled ‘What Do You Do If you Don’t?’ which received album on the month in numerous magazines, the album include the the hit singles ‘Touch My Horn’ & ‘Well Now’, as well as an ode to Jesse from Hotchip ‘Forget my Name’.
Jesse’s production prowess saw him go the next step and produce Hot Chip in 2010 for their single entitled ‘Build a House’, the first ever production not tailored by the band themselves. 2010 also saw Jesse launch his third imprint; ‘Play it Down,’ which despite it’s no press approach has already recieved the number one selling beatport release for 2011 & the hight charted record ever on R.A. Following the staggering popularity of Jesse and Henrik Schwarz’s live project; ‘Black Rose’, they released “Anthem’ in 2011 which received Radio One’s ‘Essential New Tune’ accolade.
Continued international touring schedule aside, in early 2011 Jesse relocated to L.A and in 2012 has working on a new solo album as well as producing the title track for ‘Chiddy Bang’s’ top ten billboard selling album ‘Breakfast music’ and working with the likes of Switch, Amanda Blank, Chuck Inglish (Cool Kids), Aloe Blacc, Photek, Mansions on the Moon and many more. In the midst of all of this Jesse has found time to curate his Made for the Night shows across the world. There are not many artists who can claim productions credits with some of the worlds hottest talents, play the globes biggest festivals & then turn up and play the most respected underground club & festivals in the same career, Jesse in this respect can be called an ‘anomaly...

✮ Hannah Wants (Food Music)

“Hannah Wants (aka Hannah Alicia Smith) is a star rapidly rising through the ranks not just in Birmingham but throughout the UK and beyond.” - music blog.

Hannah Wants is a self-taught house music DJ from Birmingham. She mixes a variety of house genres but her style is often heavily ‘bass’ influenced.
In 2012 alone, Hannah has played alongside the likes of Annie Mac, Justin Martin, Shadow Child, Disclosure, Jaguar Skills, Danny Howard, Huxley, SBTRKT, Roska, Jamie George, Redlight, Magnetic Man, Mak & Pasteman and XXXY.

Having been brought up in a musically orientated family Hannah was surrounded by a mixture of sounds such as Soul, R&B, Alternative Rock, Indie and 80’s/90’s house and electro from a very early age and her passion for music was easily established.

As Hannah grew older so did her ambition in wanting to become a DJ which would enable her to show off her style and preference of music to the masses. She developed a love for the late 90’s/early 2000’s house, speed/uk garage genres and on her seventeenth birthday was fortunate enough to receive her first set of vinyl decks. With nothing but a pair of Technics, Allen and Heath mixer and an ever expanding cross-genre vinyl collection Hannah found her forte.

In 2010 Hannah decided to spend the summer in Ibiza in a brave attempt to gain DJ experience, musical knowledge and a positive reputation. With her unique style she quickly made a name for herself gaining a residency at Hush, winning three DJ competitions and playing at numerous clubs, bars and boat parties across the isle including Eden, Es Paradis, Space, Viva, and Vodka Club. It was in Ibiza that Hannah secured her first UK residency for one of the Midlands’ largest events GLAS.

Since returning from Ibiza at the end of September in 2010 Hannah Wants continued to impress the crowds and gained a fast-growing reputation across the country and played at major clubbing events in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Bradford, Leeds and London.

2011 was another big year as Hannah Wants began headlining clubbing events in the UK. In June, she returned to Ibiza for two months and played at various events / clubs such as Space, Eden, Es Paradis, Hush, Plastik, and Hed Kandi, as well as holding her own weekly night at Viva where her music selection / DJ style gained her many fans. Upon Hannah’s second return from the Balearics, her DJ’ing career and reputation as one of the UK’s hottest talents, has gone from strength to strength.

So far in 2012 Hannah Wants has already won a Mixmag DJ competition, played at Creamfields, Annie Mac Presents and Cream 20th Anniversary Tour, DJ’d at an underground warehouse rave in Germany, mini-toured in South Africa and as 2012 draws to a close there already some great gigs booked in for 2013 such as XOYO (London) and 902 (Bristol).

Hannah DJ’s regularly around the UK, is one of the most in demand DJ’s in her particular house ‘scene’ and headlines some of the biggest and best clubbing events.

Although primarily a DJ, Hannah has always had a huge interest in the production of music and some her more recent tracks have been getting support from the likes of Shadow Child, Eats Everything, B. Traits, Kry Wolf, Ben UFO, Chris James, Huxley, Gorgon City, Andi Durrant, Foamo, Marcus Nasty, Andy George & Jaymo, and DJ Q. Hannah’s tracks have also been supported on and received numerous plays on national radio stations; Radio 1, Capital FM, 1Xtra, Kiss FM and Rinse FM.

With a strong ambition to build her ever growing status as a unique, credible and standout DJ/artist, 2013 is shaping up to be her best yet!
