British comedian Gordon Southern is a regular face on the world festival circuit. He’s performed several critically acclaimed hit shows in Edinburgh, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and New Zealand. A Time Out Comedy Award winner, he recently appeared on ABC TV’s Comedy Up Late and also Stand And Deliver. He is also an award winning screen writer, and his solo shows have been nominated for six comedy awards across three continents.

The topic of men’s mental health is front and centre in the autobiographical show That Boy Needs Therapy Gordon has upgraded and updated a story that began in his previous show A Man For Two Seasons illustrating the benefits and complexity of therapy and therapists (eg. Gordon’s therapist turned out to be addicted to crack cocaine. Spoiler alert: things got worse for him). Tackling issues of grief and depression through an autobiographical comedic lens, this is a jaw dropping true story. The unique selling point of this show is the men’s mental health angle. In Edinburgh, the show collected money for the mental health charity C.A.L.M. (The Campaign Against Living Miserably); in Australia the charity Beyond Blue.
